2024 Member & Donor Impact
Thanks to our members and generous gifts from donors and trail riders, we can keep the Mohican mountain bike trail in gnarly order. Our number one goal is to keep the trail safe and minimize closure from rain - which contributes to erosion, compaction, and soil displacement. Trail design, construction, and maintenance are key factors we consider to maintain our sustainable trail. Here’s a glimpse at some of the larger projects MMBC volunteers assisted with in 2024.
Drainage work
Drainage is a priority year around and 2024 was no exception. Our focus was on two areas that hold water regularly. On two separate trail days and in two groups we targeted mile 13 - what we call the Triangle - and mile 8.5. Donations and member dues helped purchase one ton of stone ideal for bridging the trail while maintaining natural aesthetics with the state forest.

Trail signage
In 2024, MMBC was able to purchase signage and 4x4 posts to make the trail clearer for riders and point them in the right direction and toward recognizable and needed landmarks, such as drinking water and restrooms. More than 20 volunteer hours were donated to install signs on the trail.

Volunteer time
In 2024, over 550 volunteers hours - a 10% increase year over year - were donated by club members and trail riders. On a weekly basis, we address trail repair, down trees, overgrowth, meetings with ODNR, and more to keep the trail safe and enjoyable for all riders.
