WHO WE ARE

Inspired by the Outdoors

Our passion is for you to get outside, ride more, be healthy, and have fun on the best single-track in Ohio.

FOR RIDERS, BY RIDERS

Mohican-Malabar Bike Club (MMBC) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, volunteer-led organization with more than 50 members who give their time and talent to trail work, advocacy programs, and events to promote the sport they love.

The Mohican mountain bike trail is maintained solely by MMBC. Sustainable mountain biking, trail maintenance, and knowledge of the sport are our top priorities. We work closely with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to preserve the forest and fauna in the state park.

We build, maintain, and ride the trail

With varying backgrounds and skills, our members make fun on the trail. They volunteer their time and talents for your riding safety and enjoyment.

DID YOU KNOW?

Malabar is included in the club name because the goal is to connect the Mohican State Park trail with Malabar Farm State Park. Malabar Farm State Park is approximately 10 miles north of Mohican.

WE WORK WITH THE BEST PARTNER

The Mohican MTB trail runs through Mohican State Park, so MMBC actively communicates trail conditions and maintenance with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). We also share knowledge about trail building through volunteer trail work days and organized courses.

Recently, MMBC members along with members of the Mohican Trails Club and Muskingum Watershed Conservation District attended a sustainable trail design course taught by Mark Allen, Statewide Trails Coordinator with ODNR. He demonstrated trail design with user experience and sustainability as key elements.

Trail Talk

FLOW - Trails with smooth, flowing features such as rollers, berms, and jumps that provide fast riding.

PUMP TRACK - A circuit of rollers, berms, and other features designed for riders to gain momentum by “pumping” the terrain with body movements instead of pedaling.

ROCK GARDEN - Section of trail with rocks of varying sizes requiring precise line choice and bike handling skills to navigate.

SINGLETRACK - A narrow trail typically only wide enough for one rider.

SWITCHBACK - A tight hairpin turn on a trail, often encountered on steep climbs or descents.

TECHNICAL - Trails with challenging features such as rocks, roots, drops, or climbs that require skill and concentration to navigate.

Beyond the Trail

Several club members organize events outside of Mohican - from gravel rides and MTB cross-country road trips to holiday celebrations at our local bike shop, Y-Not Cycling & Fitness. Here’s a gallery of some of our adventures.
